Changes To The Law Are Coming

It is important to remember that new laws & regulations are coming into force on the 1st of May 2021.

Backed by the Government's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) in support of The Air Quality regulations 2020 (England).

What you need to know about Ready to Burn & Wood.

In simple terms Ready to Burn means the fuel in question has been certified for immediate use and its moisture content is a maximum of upto 20%.

This means that when said wood is burned, less smoke will be produced than “wetter” woods. This in turn reduces pollution and improves air quality.

This new law will ban the sale of the most polluting fuels, wet wood and house coal. It will become mandatory for small quantities of wood to be certified as Ready to Burn, and larger quantities the wood requiring proper seasoning and checking with a moisture meter.

What you need to know about Ready to Burn & Manufactured Solid Fuels

As of 1st May the new law sees changes to the sale of manufactured solid fuels, and is required to meet certain standards to be listed as Ready to Burn.

A manufactured fuel means a fuel produced from coal, wood, plant-derived materials, waxes or petroleum products with other ingredients included.
